Ok...so finally our house is pretty much put back together!

Ok...so finally the furniture has been arranged...

I love how our home improvements have turned out...now I am making a list of other things I want to have done...remodel the Master Bathroom, Paint the Exterior, Dry Wall/Seal the Garage Flooring...we are figuring out when you own your home the list is never done! But we have done quite a bit in less than a year in our home!

Now to get some artwork on the walls...

Did you know that you can use Tulip® 3D Fashion Paint™ to create texture plus using Tulip® Soft Fabric Paint™ on canvas' to create art??? Hmm....I see a project to bring some color and personality to our new home! Stay tuned!!!

Overhaul!

For the past few months we have been doing some serious home improvements...

Redoing the guest bathroom...Having the acoustic scraped from our ceilings and removed the wall separating the two living rooms...Removal of wallpaper in the kitchen...Painting our house interior...(Bye bye teal!!!) And now flooring (This has got to be it for a while!!)...check out the pic below, this is during demolition...

The flooring and baseboards should be done this weekend! I will post before and after pics of all of our projects!

This is one of my favorite techniques...Marbleizing! It allows you to create a unique tie-dye piece! Plus it's SUPER easy!!!!!

If you are looking to spread the message or if you are lovin' the symbol...then you MUST create these plates. Using intense neon colors from the Envision™ Glazes family will totally make these plates pop! You could hang them on the wall or better yet create an entire set!

I think I might try this on a Duncan Oh Four™ Bisque Chefs Mug!!

Weekend Accomplished...

A couple weeks ago my husband and I did a few home improvement projects!!!

Our mission...replace towel fixtures/racks, new light, and something to disguise the ugly mirror that the previous owners mounted to the wall!!!

So we journey to the local home improvement store and pick up our supplies. They didn't have the right light fixture we replaced all the towel fixtures/racks in our guest bathroom from brass to brushed nickel (brass just isn't our style!). Next we replaced both faucets...yep from brass to brushed nickel! We have two left...the "lovely" light fixture that's way outdated! While picking up our supplies we searched for the right lighting and nothing...so replacing that will take some searching. However, I did get a fantastic idea about the mirror and it has taken a couple weekends of painting each coat to cover the ugly gold! (Each coat has to try for at least 48 hours)...yesterday I added the finishing touches...a little Silver Ultra Metallics™ mixed with the black gloss paint that was I used to paint the entire mirror with...I think it looks pretty nice!

The photos just don't do it justice!!! Next we are scraping the "popcorn" coating from our celings...I will post those pics once it's done! I am sooo excited!

Maxwell...aka Mr. Max

This was our "Christmas Card" photo...It's one of my faves!
You will remember that we rescued our little angel Maxwell from the pound back in September. I call him Maxwell...my husband calls him "Mr. Max" which totally fits his personality. Maxwell has been my inspiration for so many ideas...smART Club projects featured "Max" and the new "Tiny Tots" feature "Tiny Tot Max"!

Ancient Greek Art

How awesome is this project?!

Would you believe it if I told you that it was completed by an 11 year old!?!?!

Yep...it was created by Dean's (Dippin Dean, Rockin Dean) daughter Allison.

She was doing a country report on Greece and noticed pottery is part of their history, then asked her Dad if she could create a pottery piece like the Greeks did to turn in with her report?

(hello extra credit!)

Anyway...Allison used Satin Glazes in Banana Cream to paint the bisque vase, then added EZ Strokes in Cobalt Jet Black to create the design...like the Majolica technique. She then detailed the "hats and pants" with Concepts Really Red...finishing off the handles and top rim portion of the vase with Envision Glazes in Very Black! Ok..the kicker on this was Allison had a picture of what she wanted to paint and FREEHANDED her design work!!!

She did an absolute fantastic job, I must say...Allison totally proves our purpose statement

These ornaments are so adorable...and super EASY I might add.

It gave me some inspiration to create personal name tags for gifts that double as Christmas ornaments. What a great way to save paper and create something that can be enjoyed year after year!

Using Concepts® Underglazes gives perfect coverage and is super easy to apply! However to give your project that brilliant shine you must use pure•brilliance™ Clear Glaze!!! You don't have a kiln you say...then create the project using OS™ Opaque Acrylics and seal your with any of our Spray Sealers!

The project photo above shows additional embellishments glued on with Aleene’s® Fabric Fusion™ Permanent Dry Cleanable Fabric Adhesive™...I might "jazz" mine up a bit by using Tulip® Glam-It-Up!™ Iron-On Crystals™...I just LOVE bling!!!

Happy Birthday!!!

Yes...30 happens.

Yesterday my husband turned 30 years old.

I know its just a number and its all about how you feel.

However, he took it better than I did...I was depressed to leave my 20's.

So...in honor of his birthday...we had a birthday weekend!

On Friday night we went to dinner with my mom at The Public House...

Which was absolutely FANTASTIC! Delicious food...great beer...and fun atmosphere!

Saturday he went with his friends to breakfast and then for target practice...

Sunday we went to breakfast with his family, shopping at Sears (so he can spend his birthday gift card), off to Costco to pick up our Christmas cards...then home to relax! For dinner we had one of his favorites...Spicy Chicken Nachos! Yum!

The birthday will still continue...this upcoming Saturday we are off to the Metallica concert!!!!

Thanksgiving!!!

This year Thanksgiving was at my cousins house in Coarsegold! His house is the perfect house for entertaining! They have several acres of property, complete with horses and an adorable guest house! This is a picture of the back yard area...from the porch/screened patio!

We had several heaters out on the porch...got a little chilly!

My cousin Ryan had to work...so he and his crew were able to break away for a little bite to eat!Yes, you guessed...he is a firefighter!

What does Thanksgiving really mean?

Of course we all know the actual history about it...but what does Thanksgiving really mean to you? Is it a day for football? A day for over eating? How about a day to spend time with loved ones?...Or how about all of the above?!

For me Thanksgiving is a special time of year...not only is it officially the "holiday" season, but it gives me a chance to really think of what I am thankful for. This year I have so much to be thankful for...Amazing family, fantastic friends, my health, a wonderful husband, an adorable little puppy, our first house, a job that I love, and memories...Memories, I know it sounds crazy, but I think about family and friends that aren't here for this year's celebration. I am thankful for having the opportunity to have them in my life, if even for a short period of time.

It's my birthday...

Ok, if you read my blog last year you should know how old I am...just 10 past 21! It would also be my Grandma's 81st birthday, unfortunately she passed away almost 3 years ago.

Every year my Grandma O and I would plan the day (usually on a Friday)...I would take the day off and the two of us would go to breakfast at Mimi's Cafe. Then head out to take the town, we would spend all day shopping...a little for "Dolly" (aka...me!) and Christmas gifts for everyone else. Later in the afternoon we would stop at Marie Callender's for a little soup and birthday pie of course! Once we would get back to my Grandparents house I would wrap all the Christmas gifts that she bought. I really miss that special day and most of all my Grandma!

Last Friday my husband and I had a fantastic dinner...that HE made! Plus he even picked up Maggie Moo's Ice Cream Cupcakes! YUM! Saturday I went to lunch with my mom, her bff and my bff to Pangea for lunch. It was sooo delicious!!! Then on Sunday I went with my sister and family to breakfast at Yukon Jack's then off for a much needed mani/pedi!

If that isn't enough this morning waiting by the morning coffee were 2 cards, one from my wonderful husband the other from my little Maxwell...the girls at work made me Funfetti cupcakes...my sister brought me flowers...and we are ordering pizza for lunch! Then tonight my Mom is taking my husband and I out to Cabo Wabo!!!!

I must admit I am truly blessed with amazing family and friends!

Oregon Trails!

On Tuesday November 4th my husband's Grandma Gwen passed away.

So Friday we headed for a long journey to Oregon...

Yes...it's true...I have never driven out of state, been on a road trip longer than 6 hours in the car, or been to Oregon. I have been out of the state before, heck even out of the country...however all of my trips included something called an airplane!

The drive wasn't that bad and Oregon is absolutely beautiful.

My sister in law Sara was right...the changing colors of the season are totally different than what we experience in California. Their colorations are just as vibrant, but feature more rusty golden colors. The above picture is of Mount Shasta on our way home...(I took it while my husband drove!)

It was a very short trip...but hopefully we will go back under better circumstances.

Ok...so tonight we are going to tag along for my Goddaughters first "Trick or Treat" trip!

I am so excited...this year she is going to be an adorable little mouse!

At our first stop Emily got a couple of suckers...she was totally blown away that candy was placed into her pumpkin! After that she was ready to hit up the next house...

OOOOhhhh...this house had chocolate! Yummy!!!!

We ended the night at our house...Emily was able to sit down and take all of the candy from our dish and place it into her pumpkin!

I am not a real big fan of Halloween...however it was so much fun to see all of the kids in the neighborhood get dressed up and stop by!

Pumpkin Patch!

Saturday was such a busy day!!!

I wouldn't call it babysitting...more like hangin out with a pint size buddy!

My friend "Fab" brought over her little girl (umm doughnuts too!) and we enjoyed

a little breakfast...then Fab headed home...next Melana and I headed off to Cobb Ranch to pick out the perfect pumpkin! Oh my goodness...when we arrived they had not 1 but 2 Bounce Houses, a Jungle Gym complete with recycled tire swings made to look like horses, a Tri-Cycle Bike Race Track, Animal Farm, Tractor Train, and of course...the Hay Ride! You know we experienced ALL OF IT...plus got a beautiful pumpkin! It was SO much fun!!!

After our journey to Cobb Ranch we picked up lunch and headed back to my house! Once lunch was finished it was time to get baking!!! Normally I will make the cookie dough from scratch, however these are special pumpkin cookies...just use refrigerated sugar cookie dough, cut a small amount off, place the dough separately in a bowls...the small amount of dough gets green food coloring (to represent the pumpkin stem) and the rest of the dough gets orange food coloring (the pumpkin!)...Melana loved mixing it, rolling it into the "perfect" shape and then adding the green stem! After the cookies had baked and cooled slightly...we made pumpkin faces using mini chocolate chips!

We had a fantastic day together!!!

I can't wait for more special times to hang out with my buddy!

Awesome Techniques!

The Ginkgo Leaf Oval Platter is an extraordinary project!

I know that it looks rather cumbersome...but using the Majolica Technique you will be elated on how beautiful your final results will be! What...never heard of Majolica?! Ok, let me break it down for ya...

Step 1 - Select a nonmoving glaze so that the design or pattern does not become distorted in the glaze firing. Apply 3 coats to bisque plate, using a fan brush. Let dry.

Step 2 - Trace your design on your bisque piece, using, clay carbon and pencil.

Typical majolica designs are traditional fruits, flower and leaves, abstracts or patterns.

Step 3 - Apply 2 coats of glaze to design, using a round brush. Let dry.

Step 4 - After the glaze firing, the design is a permanent part of the glaze surface.

Ok...so the LA Dodgers didn't make it...but they did put up a good fight and should feel proud to have made it as far as they did!!! However even though they lost last night, I am still a 100% Dodger fan...I have been since I was a little girl!

Hmmm...I have a feeling in 2009 the LA Dodgers will come correct....

I even placed our treasured LA Dodger ball inside the fabulous LA mug I made!

Game 5 to stay ALIVE!!!

Ok...so the picture isn't the best...but you get the drift!

I painted a Contempo Mug with 3 solid coats of Concepts® Underglazes, then applied a thin coat of Pure Brilliance™ Brush On Clear Glaze. Fired it and voila a fantastic mug for tonight!

Of course I had to add just a little bling to the mug to make it jazzy using

Tulip® Glam-It-Up!™ Iron-On Crystals™!!

Ok...so last night wasn't the night for my LA Dodgers...

My husband and I have been so excited that they made it to the NLCS! Finally they have a chance...but last night was a tough loss. We were hoping that they could tie up the series...

They play again tomorrow...so lets hope the Dodgers take the win! I decided that I am going to make a "good luck" mug! (Now that it's cold at night...perfect for hot chocolate!!!)

Happy Anniversary!

Saturday was my 5th wedding anniversary!

I can't believe how quickly time goes by!

Normally my husband and I take a trip or go someplace exciting!

This year we opted for a "Staycation"...

After purchasing our first home a couple of months ago we wanted

to spend our time doing projects around the house...enjoying our new home!!

So...we just hung around the house, doing a little yard work, lots of cooking our favorite dishes,

moving furniture around, and watching movies! We even watched our wedding video the day

of our actual anniversary! It was a fabulous 3 day weekend and now back to work!

Happy Anniversary Sweetie...here's to many more years!

Zoo-tastic!!!

Today my husband and I took our niece to the Fresno Chaffee Zoo !

This was her first trip to the zoo and we were delighted to take her!!!

To start our journey at the zoo we started off by checking out the monkeys!

Next we stopped by to check out the Giraffes...

Ok, now how cool is this...you can feed the Giraffes!!!

The Sea Otters were so adorable!!

Look how cute!!!

All of that walking around and checking out the animals made us hungry! The 3 of us grabbed lunch and watch the other animals nearby playing on the trees & vines.
After we finished our delicious PB &J's we continued our adventure through the Zoo...next stop was the Anteaters...the mom walked around and her baby just slept on her back.

We checked out the Camels...he was very busy eating his lunch!
Saved the best for last...now we are off to the reptile house...
We couldn't take pictures of the reptiles inside (no flash!) so the pictures is of the outside statue.

PS - The statue was painted with Duncan Glazes!

After a fun and full afternoon at the zoo it was time to go home! How long has it been since you went wild at the zoo?!

Our little Maxwell has been inspecting our pool...not sure of it, but not scared of it either. So, we sat on the edge of the pool last night and let his little paws touch the water, he instantly started to do the famous "doggy paddle". He loved it...I just wish that it was a little warmer and we would totally go swimming!!! After his big "doggy paddle" debut we wrapped him up with a towel and gave him lots of loves. Isn't he is just the cutest!!!

Yep...that's right...it's CCSA time again!!!

This year it's being held at the fabulous Arizona Biltmore Hotel Resort & Spa...which is listed as one of the 1,000 places to see before you die. I really wish that I had more time to rest and relax this trip...but it's totally cool! It's going to be a busy busy busy next few days!

Puppy Power!!!

So...Saturday we had a yard sale and cleared out our unwanted "treasures" (aka JUNK)...I was surprised by how many people came by...for a holiday weekend it was busy busy! Luckily we had some help! My sister (who is sooo not a morning person) came over to help and my BFF came by with her family (I got to see my goddaughter!!) plus blueberry muffins! Fantastic!

After the yard sale my husband, sister and I were talking about pets...we really want a dog...I wanted to rescue a puppy from our local SPCA. Off we went Saturday afternoon to the SPCA...I have to say it was one of the hardest things to do, being that I absolutely love animals, seeing so many animals that need a home just broke my heart...I wanted to bring them all home. (which would not work!) After searching 2 of the 4 buildings someone finally helped us find a little puppy. I immediately fell in love! Currently his name is Pac...not our style...so his "working name" is puppy right now...I am leaning towards Maxwell! He is so sweet! We will get to pick him up this week...he has to get his shots, be fixed and microchiped!

Peace, Love and Graffiti...

Graffiti is one of the hottest trends right now...it is combining the look of ombre and street art!

I have seen this look almost everywhere...from Sephora with creative packaging and techniques to emulate the look of graffiti, Crate and Barrel has "Tag" dishes, furniture, runways...even designers like Prada are including the look in featured ads!

Don't you love the Contempo Pitcher?!? In the August 2008 issue of Domino Magazine there is a section called 10 new design icons...the number 1 design is called "sculptural jug" which looks so close to our Contempo Pitcher. This is one of my most favorite bisque shapes...I love the versatility of the piece!

The project above is achieved using Concepts® Underglazes for Bisque and Majolica, French Dimensions™ and of course...Duncan Oh Four™ Bisque!!!

Saturday night we went to the Drag Races at Famoso Raceway!

My husband was hosting an event there for his employees...night time drag racing, BBQ, and lots of fun!!! When we walked around to check out the cars prior to the race I was reminded of our new Duncan Oh Four™ Bisque banks...

I have been waiting for just the right design for my Smokin Hot Rod Bank, now I think that I have found it!

Wild Water Adventure!

Saturday was our company picnic...which was held at Wild Water Adventures! Earlier in the week I was getting really excited...until the forecast called for 110 degree weather on Saturday!!! WOW! HOT! But I still was looking forward to the party...delicious food, great prizes, chatting up with coworkers and the famous Salsa competition. This year the plate and bowl were absolutely adorable...I had to win! So...I cranked out my Grandma O's famous salsa recipe and submitted it into the competition! Guess what...I WON...plus I also received a gift certificate to one of our local restaurants!

It was a fantastic time!!!

Happy Birthday Dean!

This is a picture of Dippin Dean for Halloween...we dressed up as "DuncanInk"! As you can tell Dean is a total ROCK STAR! He is known in Ceramic Land as "Dippin Dean" and known to music lovers as "Drummin Dean"!

In honor of Drummin Deans birthday we wanted to do something special...a suggestion from V here at work was lets honor Dean by donning our Rock n Roll attire! Everyone brought out their rock tee's or like a few of us made special shirts. Alyson added some special sparkle to her Rolling Stones shirt...I created an airbrush "Rush" (Dean's favorite band) tank using Tulip® Spirit™ Spray-on Metallic Fabric Paint.

The Perfect Gift...

For my sisters birthday I wanted to get her something unique, special...it needs to represent her...what better place to shop than etsy?! Where I am able to find endless imaginative possibilities! So...after doing some searching I came across a place called Surly-Ramics. They make amazing trendy jewelry pieces...and I found just the right one for her! Another fabulous find is they use Duncan Products!!! Yippee...perfect gift using the perfect product! The photo above is all of the stickers and packaging that came with "the perfect gift" and there was even an inspirational message..."One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art" - Oscar Wilde...ok...LOVE that message!!

Think Pink!!!

Saturday night my mom, BFF (Michele) and I got dressed in pink ready to go to the Ladies Night Out event held at the Sierra Vista Mall. Not sure what I expected...but it was decorated in PINK (of course), they served Cosmos, had delicious appetizers, great music and even had NY Street Signs attached to the light posts!!

I love that people went overboard with the attire...like pink feather boas!

Ok...now for the movie...if you haven't seen Sex in The City...GO NOW!!!!

I had such an amazing time and it was all for a great cause!!! The ticket sales were donated to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Also did you know that Cynthia Nixon (aka Miranda) is also an Ambassador for Susan G. Komen for the Cure®?

Guess what is now in theaters...

I just can't wait to see this movie!

Tomorrow night is a special event at our local shopping mall to benefit Susan G. Komen

foundation! The event is complete with cocktail party, samples, makeover, and a private screening of Sex in the City!!! I can't wait to see it...one of my friends has already seen it and said is WONDERFUL...AMAZING...FANTABULOUS!!!

Sunsets!!!

The image above is from our balcony looking out to the ocean...it was an amazing sunset plus we were able to see one of the cruise ships departing that night!

We had a fabulous vacation!!! Delicious food, drinks and we were waiting on, basically treated like royalty! I highly recommend traveling to Puerto Vallarta for a vacation...there are so many things to do...Zip Lines, Deep Sea Fishing, ATV Off Roading or just taking in the cultural sights!

I am going to miss Mexico...however I am ready to plan a trip for next year!

I am soooo excited!!! My husband and I are going on a much needed vacation! We take off on Monday for a few days of rest and relaxation in Mexico! Can't wait to have a Miami Vice (half strawberry daiquiri half pina colada) and lounge by the pool! We always try to do something adventurous on our vacations...maybe Zipline?!

Today is my sister's 19th birthday! I can't believe that she is 19...this is her last year as a teen...such an exciting time in her life!

My sister is "the boss" soooo...today we are doing lunch, I baked her "the cupcake cake" (lemon is her favorite), then tonight is her birthday dinner...and on Saturday just the 2 of us are going to a special event happening at Sephora before they open!! I can't wait to spend time with her!!! Hmmm...she is spreading out her birthday...or should I say birth-month!!!

It's time to party!

Yesterday was my goddaughter's first birthday...This required some serious planning!
I love cupcakes and thought it would be so cute to have that as the party theme!

After we had a count of how many guests would be there I ordered plates, balloons, streamers, plus a custom made cupcake sign! The only thing that I couldn't find was a centerpiece...nothing really stood out! Soo...I came up with this idea to paint terracotta pots white and add stripes of different widths and colors. (Just like the plates!) Last weekend my sister came over and spent her Saturday helping me paint...(I really wanted to post these last week however they were a surprise!) I spray painted them white the day prior, next we taped them off and painted each stripe a different coordinating color by using OS™ Opaque Acrylics. Once the paint had dried we brushed the top rim (or stripes) with Tulip® Fashion Glitter Bond then sprinkled them with Tulip® Fashion Glitter™ adding a little bling to the pots! After everything was dry I sprayed each pot with our Super Gloss Spray Sealer. Ok...so the day before the party on Saturday I filled the pots with potting soil and planted coordinating color flowers! The finishing touch was a little pink tulle to tie it all together!

These are the decorations...

I have to say...I think that those are the best looking centerpieces!!!

Yes...I am truly a handbag diva! A couple of weeks ago at one of our meetings I was put on the spot about how many I own...I think my total is about 60!! Yes...you read right! I can totally see having Designer Ware Place settings on our table in the back yard, plus enough Candle Holders to illuminate the entire patio! Don't you just love the Spanish influence in the design piece...Latin style dining is one of the top 5 trends in the United States! Ok...it's time for Sangria and a little party so I better get started on this project!!!

Today is our last day in San Jose...so we had to get a move on with shopping. Right after breakfast we headed out to start our shopping...when we walked off the elevator there were cops and secret service type all over! I couldn't figure it out...so when we asked one of the guys standing around who are they waiting for he said Bill Clinton...I thought oh sure at our hotel!...Just in case I got my camera out and within 2 seconds out he came! He walked by and talked to a couple of people...shook my hand and my mom's hand then he was whisked away by secret service then they all hopped in the SUV's and took of! It was crazy...but cool that I actually met a former president!!!

We had a wonderful time and can't wait until our next trip...last year our star sighting in LA was Vin Diesel and Robin Thicke...this year in San Jose Bill Clinton! Wonder who it will be next year?!

Did somebody say SHOPPING?

Today the rain had dried up and it was a perfect day for shopping...My mom and I hit up every store in Santana Row! Yes in one day...amazing! After we went everywhere from Ann Taylor Loft to Crate and Barrel...had lunch at a delightful little cafe called Cocola Bakery. Then we dropped off our bags and walked to Westfield Valley Fair to do MORE shopping...oh my...the stores were closing so we headed back for the hotel and thought we would stop and grab a bite to eat at Straits Cafe. It was really good...we had some appetizers then our main course spicy basil chicken, coconut rice, and garlic noodles...oh and a couple cocktails too! For dessert we went back to Cocola Bakery for a pastry and decaf coffee! It was a packed day! I can't wait for another day of shopping tomorrow!!!

Do you know the way to San Jose!?

Mom's birthday celebration is about to take place! Since her birthday fell on Easter we both decided to do something a little special together. Anyway when my husband and I went to San Jose/Santa Cruz for our anniversary in October we took a tour of the Winchester Mystery House...across the street is a fabulous shopping area called Santana Row. I love my husband but he HATES shopping...but my mom LOVES shopping!!! Right then and there I knew it was a perfect trip for her birthday!

We arrived Friday night to Hotel Valencia...OMG...what an amazing hotel (if you ever go to San Jose I suggest stay here!). After checking into our room and getting settled in we headed off for dinner...the street were buzzing with people! We were hoping to get a table at Maggiano's Little Italy but they were booked until 9:45 PM!!! So we were able to get in at Pomodoro and it was yummy! After enjoying dinner and some wine we walked around (even though it was raining!)

Family Time...

This year my assignment for our Easter family gathering were cupcakes...(everyone brings something...usually their favorite dish...however I am obsessed with cupcakes!!!)

Not just cupcakes...but a ginormous cupcake also...

I haven't seen my cousin Kayla since Christmas and she is already 3 inches taller than me!

I love family gatherings...it gives me a chance to see family from out of town.

Kinda like a special treat!

Now the egg hunt begins...this year 300 eggs were hidden. Most filled with chocolate, jelly beans and the selected few filled with $5 bills!Yes...the pool behind us looks crystal clear and so enticing...trust me the water was like dipping your toe in arctic ice water!!!

I hope that everyone got to spend time with their family today and enjoy the beautiful Easter holiday!

Yes...that is me! Today my boss (aka Dippin Dean) was on Vacation and we needed to dip a few pieces. Keep in mind that I have never dipped anything nor have I prepped the dipping tank. Yes, I love ceramics but something about dipping your project is just overwhelming to me. However a couple weeks ago we filmed a "CN2000D Clear Glaze" Dipping Video! The GRRREAT Outdoors!

I love camping...a few months back my husband and I headed up to Wishon Camp area. Well now we are at it again! With the weather being so beautiful we went camping at Hensley Lake...it was for one of our friend's birthday!

You can see how much fun the kids had playing at the park in the campsite area! It was a total blast and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking...although our campsite had electricity...ok not use to that at all. That made it almost like fake or cheat camping! Anyway it was a great time and so exciting!!!

It IS Easy Being Green!

Ok...for those of you who grew up in the 70's/80's (like me) I am sure you know who Kermit is!! I like to call him "Kermy"...for some reason there has ALWAYS been a soft spot for him in my heart.

A little Kermy history lesson...prototype Kermit was created from a green ladies' coat that Jim Henson's mother had thrown in the trash can, and two ping pong balls for eyes. The early Kermit was a sort of lizard-like creature...and his first appearance as a frog was in the television special "Hey Cinderella in 1969", and he's been a frog ever since! He also had several appearances on Sesame Street...I am sure everyone remembers the song "Bein' Green"!! (ok...yes I still get misty-eyed when I see a re-run!) Plus he has has several movies (yes...I have seen them ALL!)

But most of all its amazing to know that Kermit was made from "recycled" clothing...and now he is making an appearance for "BEING GREEN!" in ads...like the Ford Escape Hybrid!

Babysitting!!!

My friends went out of town for a few days to vacation in Mexico (lucky!)...

Which gave me some great one on one time with my goddaughter!

We played...and played...and played...napped (she did)...ate...ate...and played!

It was SOO much fun! Now Grandma K is taking over until Mom & Dad return!

Make and Take It!

After the Southern Stars retreat Duncan Enterprises hosted a "Make & Take It" (Where you make a featured project and then take it with you!) Everyone had so much fun!!! Check out the picture of one of our Duncan Ambassadors...his hair was created to match one of the other Duncan Ambassadors! She is very spunky and has a fun fresh spiky do! I think that David should sport this new do everyday!

Everyone was enjoying themselves while painting with Neon Envisions Glazes! I really LOVE this project! On a Duncan Oh Four Bisque Smooth Vase a floral pattern was traced on, Black Envisions Glazes were rolled inside, then various Neon Envisions Glazes were applied to create the flower...you then fire the piece in your kiln...once that is complete you apply a black Opaque Acrylic Bisqu-Stain to the piece! The bright neon colors pop right off the vase!

Southern Stars Retreat!

Yes...it's that time of year again for the wonderful IADCCT Convention held in Las Vegas!!!

On Saturday we went to the Southern Stars (a chapter of IADCCT) Retreat! Where 3 fabulous projects were taught!

The first project was an adorable heart plate on the Duncan Oh Four Coupe Bisque shape! Just in time for Valentines Day!

Then one of our talented Duncan Ambassadors taught a beautiful tile class. There were a set of 3 tiles painted with an amazing winter scene.

Isn't the Rooster plate playful and fun? Plus the Duncan Ambassador who taught this class showed a little trick to get perfect checkers around the plate!

This is only the beginning of the IADCCT Convention!!!

The "New Years Eve Ball" in NY is one of the many traditions that I have watched on TV as long as I can remember!!! The countdown to the ball dropping is so exciting...looking forward to a new year full of hopes, challenges, changes and dreams!

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the famous New Years Eve Ball...which will be the new LED Ball. It is more than twice as bright as the old one, with enhanced color capabilities and state-of-the-art LED lighting effects. Waterford Crystal has crafted a beautiful new design for the crystal triangles on the Ball. Philips Lighting provided new solid state lighting technology that substantially increased the brightness, energy efficiency, and color capabilities of the Ball. And Focus Lighting developed a spectacular and unique lighting design for the new Ball on its 100th birthday.

Happy Birthday Stacy!!!

Tomorrow is my friend Stacy's birthday...so today we celebrated here at work!

We decorated her office with pink streamers, a happy birthday sign and birthday girl tiara!

Stacy LOVES cupcakes...so...I baked her a Cupcake Cake! Complete with hot pink frosting, hot pink sugar sprinkles, and iridescent edible glitter. It was so much fun to bake and decorate!!!

It's all about the kids...from that first moment of opening up a precious toy! That ultimate look of excitement is absolutely priceless!

The photo above is my friends little girl opening the Princess Belle Talking Tea Set we got her!

This picture is my niece playing with her Fisher-Price Little Superstar Sing-Along Stage. She loved it and let me tell you it provided entertainment for us all!

My goddaughter was given this hat...she looks so adorable I can't stand it!!
(don't mind me in the robe...hey, it was Christmas morning!)

Christmas is the wonderful time of year that you get to indulge on goodies, gifts for the kids, and most of all spending time with family!

Black and White Trend...

I don't know about you...but I LOVE black & white together!!

This set reminds me of something that I have seen out shopping...I almost bought the dishes at a department store, however I remembered that I could make this all on my own!!! This project is super easy! It's just ONE color! How awesome is that!!!
I am using this same pattern and idea to create a wine cooler.

Which is much more unique to wrap up a bottle of wine than using a boring bag!!

Once I am finished I will post a picture!

Ok...now you only have 8 days until Christmas!!!

Christmas Tree Lane

Last night was the 85th annual Christmas Tree Lane walk!

It was FREEZING last night!!!! But...my mom (aka-My BFF) headed out to enjoy the holiday season! Just to give you a little Christmas Tree Lane history....It's a 2 mile stretch on VanNess (Old Fig Garden area), starting from Shields ending at Shaw...but if you walk up and back that is about 4 miles! (well deserving of Hot Chocolate from Starbucks!)

The only time that Christmas Tree Lane went dark was 1941 during wartime and in 1973 during the energy crisis...since then Christmas Tree Lane has improved energy efficiency with better wiring, cutting power requirements by almost 50% over the past 8 years! Fabulous!

This picture just doesn't do this fairytale house justice!!! I just love clear white lights...it just illuminates the yard and house!!!

With every great show there is a finale!

This house had a castle set up...complete with a Disneyland Train, Timesquare Clock, "Light Up" Fireworks in the Trees, and SNOW (ok, a snowmaker!) coming down from the trees! But the ending message was Peace on Earth.

I just love Christmas Tree Lane...its a tradition every year that get so

excited and I get to feel like a kid again!

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas...

On Saturday my friend, her little girl and my mom went to Bentley's for the Tree Lighting Ceremony! WHAT A BLAST! They had Christmas Carolers, Hot Cider, Hot Chocolate, Snacks, Santa & Mrs Claus and a beautiful Christmas Tree! Right before the countdown began it started to "snow"...all of the children that were around started squealing "It's SNOWING!!!". Once the Christmas Tree had been lit everyone was in line to get their picture talked with Santa & Mrs Claus! Yes...we had our picture taken too! Then we made our way inside to warm up and check out everything going on...they had bow making events, wreath making station...and my favorite a Christmas Tree Candy cane! (which was done by a Duncan Designer Team Member!) We had a great time walking around chatting, snacking and getting into the spirit of the holiday season! I am so thankful for my wonderful family and friends that make the holiday's special!

Only 23 days till Christmas!!!

This morning I was reading through my Daily Candy emails...one of London emails for Selfridges & Co. had this picture and is advertising Sparkling Thursdays. We have our own type of place like this...Sephora! What really captivated me was the usage of crystals to accent the makeup that had been applied. Remind you of anything??? How about Tulip® Glam-It-Up!™ Iron-On Crystals™?? Obviously this isn't for everyday usage...but it so glamorous and unique.

It's Countdown Time!!!!

Yes...Countdown time!!!

Only 10 days till the big day!!!

Every year it's almost a joke with my husband and I...he gives me a hard time about my birthday calling it my "birth-month". I just can't help it! For so long the big day has been spread out...I use to spend the entire day with my Grandma O (her and I had the same birthday!) we would start off with eating breakfast, then go out shopping....a little for me (who am I kidding...a ton for me) and a little Christmas shopping! But Grandma O passed away a couple of years ago and now my Mom takes me to do something special, then each one of my friends does something with me, and then my husband gets his turn! But I do see his point, it gets overloaded...kinda stinks having your birthday so close to Thanksgiving because everyone tries to get their "Birthday-Time" in before that!

I am turning "30" this year...not looking forward to leaving my 20's!

Although I love the celebration and the fact that everyone makes my birthday so special...let the countdown begin!!

Changing of Seasons...

I love the feeling that I get from looking at these pieces!

It reminds me of upcoming fall events...my birthday (only 2 weeks away, but already celebrating "birth-month"), leaves changing, pumpkin pie and spending time with family!

Last year I painted a pumpkin using Courtyard Art Glazes - Pumpkin Spice and placed it on my table. The rich color was stunning...I think that I need to add coordinating pieces to complete my set!

Race for the Cure!

This is the month of pink...it's breast cancer awareness month. One in eight women will be affected by breast cancer in her lifetime.

One of my friends has a team to support the Komen Fresno Race for the Cure® on October 27th in the fight against breast cancer. Susan G. Komen for the Cure can give back to fund vital breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in our own community and support the national search for a cure! A Little Mystery...

On our way to the Winchester Mystery House I couldn't believe the developments that have popped up in the area! There is a shopping area "Santana Row" that looks like a combination of Italy and France...really beautiful. The shops ranged from Donald J. Pliner to Sur La Table...

they have EVERYTHING!!! (next time my mom and I need a place to go shop we are going here!)

Our tour began at 11:30 and was about an hour long...

The story is Sarah L. Winchester spent about 38 year remodeling and adding onto her house...some rooms had great details while others were lacking those finishing touches. Although I do have to say her Tiffany Art Glass collection was stunning. Plus the original ceramic tiles that were surrounding the fireplaces were beautiful...the colors were so rich and creamy. It totally reminded me of some of the colors we offer at Duncan...like our Designer Glazes™. The amount of money that was spent on this mansion is crazy...but I can't get over how much time was spent...24 hours a day and 7 days a week! In 38 years that is a total of 332,880 hours total!!!

On our way home we stopped at Casa de Fruta (a family tradition!) and got a little snack to help us make it home! I love traveling...but there is no place like home!

Boardwalk!

This morning I was worried it would be really cold and cloudy...but everything burned off!

We took off for Santa Cruz this morning and really had an amazing time! Of course you had to start the day off right by riding the Giant Dipper (then again a few more times)! My husband and I walked up and down the boardwalk several times...we had the best time people watching while enjoying the famous fried artichoke hearts! We played more video games...went on the haunted house ride (which was mainly in the dark the entire time!) and my husband kept grabbing my arm making me think someone else was...once I would scream he would start laughing! (it wasn't that funny!)

After a full day of being in the sun at the Santa Cruz Boardwalk we went back to the hotel to get ready for our special dinner!

If you have never tried fondue...even if you have...you MUST try the Melting Pot! They start you off with your choice from 6 cheese fondues plus vegetables and bread for dipping...then you move onto your salad...and the main course which was a sampling of fillet, sirloin, garlic & herb chicken, citrus pork tenderloin, mushroom raviolis, red pepper raviolis and veggies cooked in Coq au Vin (herbs, mushrooms, garlic, spices, and wine)...what is crazy about fondue is the portions are perfect without getting too full!...The finale was dark chocolate fondue (yes, I am a dessert junkie!) served with fresh strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, brownies, and marshmallows that are toasted then rolled in either crushed oreos or gram cracker are just a few of the dipper options!

After dinner we walked around downtown San Jose to check out all of the adorable boutiques and the nightlife!

Today was such an amazingly great day and I am totally excited about the Winchester Mystery House tomorrow!!!

And we're off!!!

On our way out of town Friday it seems like we hit every pocket of rain their could be! But we finally made it to our hotel...then we went out for a bite to eat!

Not sure if anyone has ever been to a Dave & Busters but it's soooo much fun!!!! The motto is "Eat...Drink...Play" and that is what we did! As soon as you walk in you have the option of going up to one of the two bar areas to watch sports & have a drink...or you can put your name down to play some pool or for a dining experience...or you can venture out to the arcade area to choose your video game!

Well...we started by putting our name down for dinner, then sat at the bar area had a drink and watch the baseball game! Dinner was fabulous!!! All I have to say is hot doughnut holes with chocolate fudge dipping sauce!!!! YUMMY!!! After dinner and dessert we needed to burn off some calories...a little skeeball and friendly video game competition!!

It was a great night and couldn't wait for tomorrow's events at the Boardwalk!!!
